From Amazon.com

Mummy bought the following from Amazon.com that just arrive last weekend.

A Baby Bjorn Synergy carrier to carry me around instead of using stroller. I will be closer to daddy and mummy.
A diaper backpack to put my barang barang as once we go out, daddy & mummy need to bring diaper, extra clothes, hot water, milk powder and etc... the bag from Mt. E (a gift) is not big enough, so this backpack is bigger and more convenient.
A snuzzler for the stroller where I will be more comfortable when daddy send me to and from baby sitter place every weekdays.

Melts mummy's heart

Something to share:

FOR NEW MUMMY AND DADDY

Please Mom and Dad....

My hands are small. I don't mean to spill my milk.
My legs are short -please slow down so I can keep up.
Don't slap my hands when I touch something bright and pretty. I don't understand.
Please look at me when I talk to you. It lets me know you are really listening.
My feelings are tender -don't nag me all day. Let me make mistakes without feeling stupid.
Don't expect the bed I make or the picture I draw to be perfect. Just love me for trying.
Remember, I am a child, not a small adult. Sometimes I don't understand what you're saying. I love you so much. Please love me just for being myself, not just for the things I do.

I love you daddy, mummy !!!

Birth Story

Mummy has no time to write up the birth story till now so, before she forgets better summarize and update the blog, at least next time can refer if want to. :)

9/11/2009 8.30 am
Went gynae clinic to do priming (soften cervix to prepare for induction). 1st tablet insertion in the morning and 2nd in the evening. It will take few hours to take effect and prepare myself to check in to the hospital at 7.30am tommorrow for induction (dripping).

9/11/09 7.30pm
Had backache during dinner. The pain is bearable so thought is normal.

10/11/09 12.00am
Went to sleep early as need to wake up early the next year, buy the backache is getting worse and it comes in an interval of 30 mins. Change position for few times and running to toilet few times.

10/11/09 2.30 am
The interval is 10 mins, start to gets worry and wondering is it a contraction cause it feels like backache but not stomachache.
Call clinic emergency number and gynae call back explain backache is still early stage, however, if i can't take the pain then can check myself in early.

10/11/09 3.00 am
Can't take the pain even with hubby massage and decided to bath and get ready to go hospital.

10/11/09 5.00 am
Reached Mt E and checked in at delivery suite. Midwives prepare myself and strap me to the machine. It shows I am having contraction (5 mins intervals) but I am still 1 cm dilated. The pain is still bearable so walk around to relax.

10/11/09 7.30 am
Gynae arrived in surgical suit; she put me on drip and breaks my water bag. I told her the contraction very painful, she says still early for epidural, maybe wait another 1 to 2 hours, if not it will be long day.

10/11/09 8.45 am
The contraction is getting strong, ask for anesthetic. When the anesthetic doctor reached, he was in shocked that I am so much in pain. He quickly set me up and I was in pain till shivering and tearing. After all the drama, I am on epi in 5 mins and painless.

10/11/09 12+noon
Gynae come to check on me, I am like 4 to 5 cm dilated. After gynae leave, my left leg gets very numb, and starts to feel some pain on my right pelvic bone. Call for nurse and she increase the epi dosage, but still pain and is getting stronger. Hubby notice the pain follows the contraction peak, suspect the epi doesn't work. Ask for nurse 2nd time and I was in pain in scale of 8/9. Nurse calls the anesthetic doc and when he arrived he checked on me and adjusts the catheter as my catheter move to the left cause why my left side is all numb and right side is not. He pulls out the catheter a bit and the pain is gone. Painless again for few hours, can take a nap and rest.

10/11/09 3.45 pm
Gynae come to check on me, 9 cm dilated but baby is not crown yet. At the same time, my right pelvic bone pain again. This time quickly ask for nurse and get anesthetic doctor again. When he is here, he check and try his very best to pull the catheter slightly more, he mention if not will need to re-insert again. At least this time, I am not in so much pain, and still can talk to the anesthetic doctor.

10/11/09 4.15 pm
Gynae come again and I'm 10 cm dilated. She commented I am slow for induction. She gets the nurse to reduce the epi dosage a bit so that I can feel a bit of pressure and wait for the urge to push.

10/11/09 4.30 pm
Feel the urge to push and midwives were sent in to assist. Starting to push but baby not out yet. Keep pushing and breathing. According to the midwives, I need to push for 1 hour (not sure is the guideline or what) before asking for gynae. Midwives mentioned my baby is not face down, but facing side way, so pushing is a bit more difficult compare to baby facing down.

10/11/09 5.30 pm
1 hour later baby still not out yet and I am exhausted and was so happy when gynae arrived. She assists by turning the baby face down. Gynae keep encouraging me to push harder if not will need to go for emergency c-sect. After 30 mins of pushing, baby's head can be seen and gynae ask whether I need forceps assistance, I quickly agree cause I am super duper exhausted (no meals since 5 am and been pushing for 1 hour+) and want baby to be out as soon as possible. Nurse quickly prepare the forceps and gynae act very fast as my next contraction is coming and one final push and assisted with forceps Steffie is born.

Gynae stitched me up while baby is clean up by midwives. I was so exhausted till no energy to breastfeed after Steffie is cleaned. After half an hour stitching, I was put on observation for another 30 mins before wheeling me back to my ward. Book for 1 bedded but was fully occupied so no choice settles for 2 bedded.

What an experience cause we had no idea contraction is super pain backache and not stomachache. We waited for the dilation and though once 10cm dilate few pushes then baby can come out (as claimed by many and sounds so easy), but is after fully dilated still need to wait for baby to crowned and the pushing is the most difficult and exhausted.

Anyway, we are glad, blessed and thankful that Steffie is born and she stays healthy. Enjoying parenthood especially when she smiles and “talks” to us.
